Course objectives
The main topic of the course is to present some basic themes of Christian art related to their literal patterns. For an overview of formation of individual types of images the determination of written source and other cultural circumstances is important. Secondary attention will be paid on general questions about the task of artifacts in the Christian cult. Absolvent of the course will be able to recognize basic themes of Christian art and to relate right religious text to concrete image.

Teaching methods
The main form of teaching methods is discussion in which students in aid of literature analyze examples of Christian artifacts and they learn to indentify certain themes. Besides, each course is supplemented with short lectures and an important part of the course is excursion focused on recognition of Christian iconography in situ in the galleries and streets of Brno.
