- Course objectives
- In the end of this course student will be able to understand the characteristic features of military in ancient Orient and Greece and also to interprete by himself the political power and social status of military in various empires in Middle east and in ancient Greece. The course will also provide for student various informations, concerning mainly of technical aspects and material provision of military. At the end, the student will also became familiar with various elite battle divisions; their military equipment, armaments, tactics and their style of warfare during particular military operations.

- 1.)Všeobecný úvod - zoznámenie sa s pramennou základňou a s literaturou. 2.)Rozbor, podoba a význam vojenstva v štátoch Predného Východu. 3.)Achaimenovská Perzia – orientálny despotizmus a vojenská expanzia do vypuknutia Grécko-perzských vojen. 4.)Grécke vojenstvo v homérskom a temnom období. 5.)Grécke vojenstvo v archaickom a klasickom období – občianske vojsko, jeho charakteristika, význam a sociálny status občana ako vojaka v gréckej spoločnosti. 6.)Grécke námořnictvo – podoba, vývoj a význam, vznik lokálnych thalassokracii. 7.)Grécko-perzské vojny – príčiny a dôsledky. 8.)Spartský militarizmus vs. Athénska thalassokracia. 9.)Vzostup Macedónie – vláda Filipa II. a jeho vojenská reforma. 10.)Ťaženie Alexandra Veľkého – opis a charakteristika macedónskeho vojska a taktiky. 11.)Charakteristika a význam vojenstva nomádských etník
