Course objectives
At the end of the curse students schould be able: list and describe changes in the system of european states and imperiums after the Peace of Versailles; define and interpretate social, political, economical and cultural trends in Europe between 1918-1939; analyse social and political ideologies; debate crossroads and reasons of crisis of democracy and rise of autoritarian/totalitarian movement; compare changes in the social structure and structure of political power in Germany, Italy and Sowiet Russia.
Syllabus
  • The Peace of Paris and the new order; European international politics in the 20th of 20th Century; Victorious powers - Great Britain and France; Social and economical devolopment in Europe and the consequences of the world economic depression; Political ideologies and autoritarism; Birth of fascism - Italy; Fascism and totalitarism - Hitlers Germany; Revolution, communism and totalitarism -Stalins USSR; Civil war in Spane; Small countries in the middle, east and southeast Europe - gradual abandonment of parliament democracy; Fall of the Order of Versailles and path to the new war in Europe.
