Course objectives
The course TIM_LAB provides an environment for an active exploration of the current trends within the realm of media art and its historical context. We will focus on the local hubs of creativity (CZ, SK, AT, PL, HU), as well as pioneers of media art (artists / curators / organizers). Students, divided into smaller groups and led by a lecturer, will deal with individual topics – actively familiarize themselves via period and personal archives, documentation and encounters with local trailblazers who combined art and technology. The objective is to create public archives of period material and a database of information about locally important events and personalities whose importance transgresses the borders of the region. The intention is to encourage students to critical thinking about contemporary artistic production and its historical context. Each of the one-semester TIM_LAB seminars will be focused on a particular topic.
