Course objectives
The lecture will be dedicated to major European and world translators and translation theorists (St. Jerome, Martin Luther, Etienne Dolet, Friedrich Schleiermacher, Walter Benjamin, Jean-Paul Vinay - Jean Darbelnet, Roman Jacobson, John Catford, Georges Mounin, Jiří Levý, Marianne Lederer, George Steiner, Henri Meschonnic, Katharina Reiss and Hans Vermeer, Christiane Nord, Gideon Toury, I. Even-Zohar).

Teaching methods
The lecture will be dedicated to some major European and world theories of translation (see syllabus and ELF) and to reading excerpts from the works of selected theorists and translators.
Assessment methods
The oral examination in French of the topics discussed during the semester. The student must also complete a course in the ELF (reading of texts - J. Levy, R. Jakobson, etc.). Lecture attendance is not mandatory.
