Course objectives
The main objectives of the course is the acquaintance to basic directions and names in the world jazz scene.
Syllabus
  • - Roots of work song, spiritual, blues, brass band, ragtime - Early jazz in New Orleans, dixieland, Chicago - Origins of big bands, swing of the 30s and 40s - Modern jazz, bebop, cool, east coast, hard bop, west coast, free, third stream - Mainstream of the 60s, bossa nova, fusion (jazz-rock, electric jazz) - Louis Armstrong - Duke Ellington - Charlie Parker - Miles Davis
