- Course objectives
- Students further develop their abilities to understand spoken Japanese language, both formal and colloquial, in coordination with other language courses. They further enrich their vocabulary, they are able to identify key information in spoken discourse in various contexts, and also the sociopragmatic functions of specific expressions.

- Teaching methods
- Listening to the audio materials with teacher’s further explanation. The focus is put on the ability to identify not only the key information, but also the sociopragmatic functions of specific expressions (e.g. aizuchi etc.) within the spoken discourse. Speed of the speech and the rate of use of colloquial and phatic expressions become gradually higher toward natural spoken Japanese.

- Listening test. Active participation in the classes is also part of the evaluation.Attendance of 80 % is a requirement.
