- Course objectives
- At the end of the course students should be able to:
- enlarge their knowledge of issues concerning early Czech literature;
- are familiar with specialized literature and methodology;
- check their interpretative skills;
- are familiar with basic findings and methodological procedures of related disciplines;
- are able to apply acquired knowledge and skills when creating scientific texts.
The contents of the seminars are readings and interpretations of the selected works, included in the period of old Czech literature. The particular texts are not more chosen with regards to the chronological aspect (9th – 18th century: literature of the Middle Ages, literature of Hussite period, Humanism literature and Baroque literature) but more to the genre and the functional aspect. (A part of the seminar programme is devoted to the compulsory reading II). - Learning outcomes

- Teaching methods
- Work with texts (with the use of analytical-synthetic method) is emphasized in seminars. Interpretations of texts are realized as collective tasks in seminars and then checked in individually elaborated seminar works.
- Assessment methods
- Credits are obtained on the basis of active work in seminars and a seminar work. The pre-requisite for taking an exam is the seminar work accepted by the teacher. Oral examination has the form of a discussion over the selected literary period.

The course is taught each semester.
Credit evaluation note: Jednooboroví studenti skládají zkoušku za 5 kreditů, dvouoboroví mají na výběr ukončení zápočtem (4 kr.) nebo zkouškou (5 kr.).
