The subject follows the subject CLDS_a23 Seminar for PhD students VI. The course is primarily intended for students of specialization in the Historic languages of the Czech land.

Course objectives
Course aims:
- further enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within Medieval Studies as the main focus of their doctoral dissertation;
- demonstration of the ability of practical application of the said principles when working with specific materials;
- gradual enhancement of the student's skills and knowledge within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- application of the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course, the student shall:
- acquire skills and methods that are adequate in connection with the expected completion of the dissertation;
- check their command of the said methods by working with specific material that is related to their dissertation topic;
- boost their knowledge and competence within the thematic scope of the specialization Medieval Languages;
- apply the skills and knowledge acquired in the wider framework of the specialization, on particular issues of the dissertation thesis.
Syllabus
  • The student is to master the principles of the Theory of Medieval Literature in connection with the expected completion of the dissertation;
  • - they shall also boost their skills and knowledge in regular cooperation with doctoral students from the fields within the specialization Medieval Languages - Czech Language, German Studies, Classical Philology;
  • - at the same time, they will be enhancing their competence and presentation skills in the form of a presentation of their doctoral thesis.
  • - furthermore, the student shall present the concept of their doctoral dissertation, and will be defending their academic views in a discussion.
