- Course objectives
- This class aims to give the students an insight into an art industry and its institutionalization into a form of specialized public museums.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introductory lesson, recapitulation of terms 2.The town and society in 19. century. Industrial revolution and its influence of the growth and transformation of town aglomeration in Europe, movement of population, urbanismus, Inception od the schools, museums, theatres... 3. Institution of museum in 19. century in Europe. Specific of the decorative arts museums. 4. Phenomenon world´s exhibition, relation between museum of the decorative arts and industry od this period 5. Optimal museum. Science, art and industry in the theoty of Gottfried Semper. 6. Beginning of photographic technology: Daguerre, Talbot, Niepce, Marey/microscopic technology, chronophotography... 7. Decorative arts organization – William Morris, John Ruskin.... 8.Founding of decorative arts museums in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, founding acts, context.... 9. The decorative arts museum in Brno in 19. century. 10. The decorative arts museum in Brno in 20. century. 11. Moravian decorative arts museums (Olomouc, Ostrava, Třebíč, Moravská Třebová) – characteristic od particulars institucions and its ending 12. Museum of decorative arts – technological museum.
