- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to familiarize the students with prehistory and early history and their basic structure. The lectures will provide basic information about individual prehistoric and early historic periods, their characteristics, transformations of human society, technologies, settlement and burial rites.
- Learning outcomes
- Student competences after completion of the course: - general knowledge of archaeological methods; - good knowledge of the periodisation and dating of prehistoric and early historic eras; - grasp of the most important periods in prehistory and early history; - grasp of development trends in prehistory and early history; - an informed knowledge of the basic sources of material culture. - knowledge of basic terminology in English.
- Syllabus
- The course is targeted at prehistory and early history from the origins of human society to the Roman Period.
- The study is based on history rather than on archaeology, therefore it does not analyse the classification of material culture, but presents only historical outputs derived from analyses of the sources of material culture.
- 1. Chronology and periodisation of prehistory and early history. The natural environment in prehistory.
- 2. Anthropogenesis. Old and Middle Stone Age (Palaeolithic, Mesolithic)

- Teaching methods
- lecture, e-learning - presentations, terminology, 3D models virtual collection in case of distance education streamed lectures and practice tests in elf system
- Assessment methods
- The course is evaluated by written test and oral examination. IN case of distance education, the test is replaced by practice test in every lesson. Practice tests are realised in elf system. Oral examinations is moved to the MS teams.
