Course objectives
Students will be provided with the most important religious concepts about human life as a journey to paradise or hell. The main source will be German philosophical and literary texts and their reading and interpretation. The analysis will proceed from the early Middle Ages.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to assign the most important human concepts of heaven and hell to different periods of history and historical development.
Syllabus
  • The teaching programme is divided into two units: a) Texts (philosophical and mystical) and their analysis. b) Dante Alighieri: Divine Comedy. Analysis of selected text sections.
