Course objectives
The aim of the course is to check whether students are able to translate and interpret texts of two most important treatises of medieval Latin hagiography and historiography of Bohemian provenance, namely the so-called Legend of Christian and the Chronicle of Bohemians by Cosmas.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to understand, translate into Czech and interpret selected passages from the so-called Legend of Christian and Cosmas's Chronicle of Bohemians.

Teaching methods
There are no seminars taught on a regular basis. Students are asked to read the given treatises independently, using dictionaries and other tools, and to consult with the teacher if necessary.
Assessment methods
The knowledge of the texts is tested by translating selected passages from Latin into Czech and by commenting on linguistic features and overall context of the given text. Oral examination, students are given time for preparation of the translation. The exam can take place during the exam period or, by previous arrangement, during the semester.
