Prerequisites
KSCA652 Chinese for Mgr. program II
- The student is expected to have HSK 4 or CEFR B1 above. This is a course for second-year master's students.
- The course is EXCLUSIVELY offered to students of Department of Chinese Studies of Masaryk University.
- An Erasmus student must present proof of major as Chinese Studies at his/her home university in order to enroll. A language proficiency certificate (HSK/TOCFL) does not count.

Course objectives
The students learn advanced skills in academic reading- in terms of grammar, style and vocabulary and Chinese academic conventions. They also discuss the readings in Chinese.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student should be able to:
- understand and use the specifics of Chinese written academic style;
- discuss the reading in full Chinese.

  • The course will cover basic topics of the student's individual research. The contents are individualized and depend on each student's own research needs.

Teaching methods
Weekly readings and discussion in Chinese.
Assessment methods
Up to two unexcused absences tolerated. A student who has three unexcused absences is not allowed to sit the final exam.
To ask for an excused absence, the student needs to officially approach the Study Department of the Faculty of Arts.
Final exam: reading + oral exam. The student will be given a short essay (2-3 pages, in Chinese) to read at home and come to the oral exam, ready to answer questions.
