Course objectives
The aim of the course is to emphasize the most important changes in the development of ancient philosophy (the beginning of philosophy, the "anthropological" turn - Sophists and Socrates, Plato - philosophy as conceptual definition, Aristotle - methodology and systematization, Hellenistic philosophy - connection with the historical-political background, the influence of Christian thought) so that teachers, especially of secondary school philosophy, can focus on these key moments in a limited time allocation.
In doing so, the historical-philosophical and historical-social circumstances will always be illuminated, which will help to link the teaching of the ZSV with other subjects (especially history, but also other humanities subjects).
The main aim of the course is therefore to contribute to the quality of teaching historical-philosophical topics in secondary schools.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to:
- identify the basic milestones and changes in the development of ancient philosophy;
- explain their significance in the context of the development of thought;
- explain their historical and social context;
- to provide basic information about them to secondary school pupils of the ZSV (possibly also of history and other humanities subjects).
