Course objectives
The state final examination is in the form of an oral examination. The questions are based on sub-areas covered in the compulsory courses: translation theory, text and discourse analysis and linguistic disciplines. The examination is conducted in Czech. An integral part of the examination is the defence of the thesis, which always precedes the examination itself. The examination should demonstrate the students' ability to * treat the assigned subject matter, * respond in discussion and argue substantively, * demonstrate theoretical knowledge from specialized literature and other recommended sources and be able to apply it in a scholarly discussion. The exam tests factual and methodological knowledge as well as orientation in the literature. Students should demonstrate the following skills: * formulate theses and claims and support them with arguments, * compose an overview and clearly structured interpretation of the assigned topic, * work critically with the literature. Detailed information about the course and content of the exam is published on the department's website.
