- Course objectives
- The course focuses primarily on teaching practical language for everyday life. The language topics are then supplemented with information about realia and a comparison of the socio-cultural context in the Czech Republic and Sweden. Students will learn basic grammar, phrases and vocabulary for selected topics so that they are able to navigate basic communication situations.
- Learning outcomes
- Participants will master the basics of Swedish pronunciation and grammar. They will learn to handle simple communication situations at the A1 level and become familiar with selected realia and cultural specifics of Sweden.
- Syllabus
- 1. Introduction to Swedish pronunciation: alphabet, vowels, “DU-reform” in Sweden and history of addressing, vykäning and tykäning 2. Introduction to Swedish pronunciation: pronunciation rules, reduction and assimilation 3. Topic of introducing oneself, nouns: definite and indefinite form 4. Topic of introducing oneself, short answers 5. Word order in questions, auxiliary verbs KAN, VILL, MÅSTE 6. Personal pronouns and interrogative pronouns, topic of work, work culture: Czech-Swedish comparison 7. Questions with negative, education: Czech-Swedish comparison, “folkhögskola”: history and current situation 8. Verbs: forms of regular verbs, short answer with negative 9. Personal pronouns in the subject case, use of present tense and infinitive 10. Days of the week, numerals, topic my day 11. Topic my day, hours, word order in the main sentence 12. Christmas hour: Swedish Christmas traditions
