Výklad základních pojmů z oblasti větné sémantiky, osvětlení vztahů mezi významovou a gramatickou rovinou věty (otázky diateze), stanovení distributivních podmínek pro různé operace (transformace, nominalizace aj.) s větnými strukturami. Charakteristika vlastností výpovědi, zvl. ilokučních funkcí, včetně typologie, a výklad jejich jazykových indikátorů na pozadí teorie řečového jednání. Přednáška poskytuje teoretický rámec k odpovídajícímu semináři.
