Uvedený kurs završuje čtyřsemestrový cyklus přednášek zaměřených na objasnění základních teoretických východisek tzv. masmediálních studií, respektive teorie masové komunikace. Kurs seznamuje posluchače se specializovanou analýzou role televize v moderní, respektive postmoderní společnosti, a to zvláště ve vztahu k fenoménu každodennosti. Kurs nabízí posluchačům možnost seznámit se s reflexí uvedené problematiky v širokém spektru různých teoretických východisek zahrnujících především sociologickou, psychoanalytickou a fenomenologickou perspektivu. Vedle uvedených teoretických koncepcí se posluchači seznámí i s řadou empirických výzkumů zaměřených na uvedenou problematiku. Tématicky je kurs členěn do následujících šesti okruhů: televize a každodennost, televize a její publikum, místo televize v rodině, televize jako socio-technologický systém, televize a její konzumace, televize jako nástroj konstrukce bezpečí. Jádro kursu je postaveno na samostatné četbě vybraných textů a na jejich seminární analýze.
