Course objectives
An introduction into history of the Czech Aesthetics from its beginnings in Frant. Palacký's "Přehled estetiky a její literatury" (1823)up to the present. A special attention is devoted to the empirical and formalistic line that starts with Bernard Bolzano, runs via Josef Durdík and his collegue Ot. Hostinský and leads into the conceptions of the Czech proto-structuralism (Ot. Zich) and structuralism of Jan Mukařovský.
