- Course objectives
- The course will not only look at the greatest protagonists of the Soviet montage school of the twenties (Lev Kuleshov, Dziga Vertov, Sergei Eisenstein, Vsevolod Pudovkin, Alexander Dovzhenko), but also provide a short history of the Russian and Soviet film from its beginning to the end of WWII, including the socialist realism and the Stalinist cultural policy in the thirties. Assessment: Oral examination
