Course objectives
Course description: The research is focused on so called "normalization period" in the Czech Cinema, especially its first stage (1970-1976). It will analyse typical genres (historical films, comedy, adventure films.) and typical heroes (a young man or woman, an experienced comrade). It will also consider the participation of the New Wave generation of filmmakers in the "normalization" cinematography, the polemic attempts, and the practice of film criticism. Literature: Iluminace,1997, č. 1., Melounek, Pavel: Horečky všedního dne (Praha 1987). Assessment: an essay.
