Course objectives
The seminar is could be subtitled: Milan Kundera: The journey there and back again. It will analyse the complete work by Milan Kundera, from his juvenile poems Man, A Wide Garden, to his latest novel Ignorance, which deals with the predicament of emigrés and with globalisation themes. The seminar will compare and contrast major motifs and themes of Kundera's work and will argue that the early work by Milan Kundera, which the author now suppresses, is closely connected with his mature writings.

The students will send the essay to the lecturer by email. They will also receive the lecturer's comments and evaluation by email from the United Kingdom.
Syllabus
  • The seminars will be devoted to the analysis of literary texts by Milan Kundera. Each seminar will take a short student presentation (not more than 15 minutes) as a point of departure.
