Course objectives
The goal of the seminar is to give a more detailed view of the hymnbook from the aspekt of its being one of the basic hymnographic / poetic / literary media of the Czech literature life in the 17th and 18th century. The question of the spiritual song writing which was transmitted by the czech baroque hymnbooks will be also considered.

  • 1.) The hymnografique media of the early modern period (the cycle of songs, the handwritten hymnbook, the anthology of hymnography, the "song leaflet", ...) 2.) The czech catholic hymnbook production in the 17 and 18th century 3.) The concept of the czech catholic hymnobook according to Rozenplut, Šteyer, Holan 4.) The czech hymnographic canon of the 17th century ("catholisation" of czech non-catholic hymnography; integration of czech spiritual lyrics in hymnbooks, ...)
