Course objectives
The course will consist of historical and comparative analysis of concepts of film theories, aesthetics and poetics focusing on the period from 60s till present. The aim of the lectures is to provide an alternative to the chronological type of reading. We will discuss concepts like for example medium, framing, genre, dispositif, suture, identification, point of view, metaphor, figuration, rhetoric, montage, movement, rhythm, color, light, emotions, text, intertextuality, intermediality. Assessment: test. Literature: : Helman, Alicja: Słownik pojęć filmowych I.-X. (Wrocław 1991-1998); Andrew, Dudley: Concepts in Film Theory (New York 1984); Jacques Aumont: The Image (London 1997); Stam, Robert & Burgyone, Robert & Flitterman-Lewis, Sandy: New Vocabularies in Film Semiotics (London 1993).
