Course objectives
This course will be devoted to the analysis and interpretation of Čapek s plays. We will examine the texts: Loupežník, R.U.R., Lásky hra osudná, Ze života hmyzu, Věc Makropulos, Adam Stvořitel, Bílá nemoc, Matka.
Syllabus
  • The course will follow the changes and developements of Karel Čapek s plays. We will focus on the structures, themes and styles of his texts. We will also confront the reactions of book readers and critics to this work. Karel Čapek is also the author of many articles and essays about theathre, writing plays and directing a play. Students will read these texts and discuss them.
