Bezpodmínečným předpokladem zapsání kurzu je alespoň pasivní znalost němčiny nebo maďarštiny. Znalost latiny je vítána, většina latinských textů ovšem bude k dispozici též v českém či německém překladu.

Course objectives (in Czech)
Předmět představí osobnost posledního panovníka z lucemburské dynastie, uherského, římského a českého krále Zikmunda. V jednotlivých hodinách bude chronologicky sledována Zikmundova životní dráha na pozadí významných procesů a událostí evropských a českých dějin. V seminárních hodinách budou prezentovány ukázky diplomatických a především narativních pramenů uherské, říšské i české provenience. V jarním semestru bude sledována Zikmundova snaha o získání českého trůnu a jeho osudová konfrontace s husitskou revolucí, ovšem v kontextu jeho politiky říšské a evropské (spory Polska s řádem německých rytířů, války proti Osmanům, italská politika a císařská korunovace, snaha o unii západní a východní církve, basilejský koncil).
