Course objectives
Practice-oriented translation course with focus on administrative and journalistic styles. The administrative style is presented and practiced on EU-related texts which are frequently commissioned to external translators and which have their own special characteristics. To practice translating journalistic texts, we will focus on news writing style while making use of articles from US and UK newspapers and other periodicals. We will discuss language devices specific for newspaper articles and consider ways of translating them into Czech.
