Course objectives
The goal of the course is to analyse special group of Czech and Moravian late Renaissance architectures of the 2nd half of the 16th century and beginning of the 17th century - Rennaissance castle with arcade courtyard. The aim is to inquiry not only special buildings nad their decoration but also general architectural type and functions of the castles.

  • Renaissance Catlse as building task of the Early Modern period Function and background of the residence of the nobility Decorative programs of Moravian Castles Commissioners of the Castles Architecture of the Renaissance castles with arcade Cortyards. Forms and function of the castles between originality and norm Castles of Moravský Krumlov, Náměšť nad Oslavou, Telč, Oslavany, Uherský Ostroh, Rosice, Velké Losiny, Bučovice, Ivanovice na Hané, Moravská Třebová etc.

Teaching methods
The method of the course will be concentrate on analysis of concrete architectures as objects or sources. The goal of the work is to provide model approach for analysis and interpretation of Early Modern architecture. It will contain of work with written sources and the real buildings and their documentation, palns and so on.
