Course objectives
Devoted to Scottish drama, the aim of the course is to translate Scottish dramatic texts. Lead by one of the teachers, regular workshops with students serve as a platform for the translations and modifications of the texts translated (in a form of the discussion over the translated parts). The results are complete translations of several texts.
Syllabus
  • Students prepare in advance particular parts of the texts. These are analyzed at the regular meetings (classes every week or a doubleclass every second week, depends on agreement). Due to a comparative method, frequently made mistakes (misunderstandings of the original, syntactical and stylistic inaccuracies) as well as original and innovative solutions (word puns, non-translatable parts) are pointed out. The final text is completed during the last session.

Teaching methods
Preparations before sessions (sending the part to be translated plus an analysis of a comparative chart of existing translations - according to the number of students in class), class discussion plus the final class during which the text will be completed.
