Course objectives
Upon successful participation on the excursion to Rome 7.-15. 5. 2010 the students will be familiar with the main monuments of the ancient Roman empire in Rome and the nearest neighbourhood. They will see the main archeological sites, acquire an concrete knowledge about the form and shape of the urbs Rome during the existance of the Roman Empire. They will be able to recognize, describe and comment the visited monuments.
Syllabus
  • We shall visit the monuments as follows: Colosseum, Palatin, Fora; arch of Constantin, Titus, Septimius; Domus Aurea Imperial fora, markethalls of Trajan,column of Trajan, Capitolian Museums The epigraphical museum – terme di Diocleziano, Pantheon, Ara Pacis, Mausoleum of Augustus Museums of the vatican, Vatican, Angels castle campus Martius, theater of Marcellus, Villa Giulia, Galleria Borghese The baths of Caracalla, Via Appia, Villa dei Quintili Tjhe roman houses on Caelius Fontana di Trevi, the column of Marc Aurelius, Piazza di Spagna, Piazza del Popolo Piazza, Navonna, Campo dei Fiori Neapoles and Pompei (by train)or Ostia
