Course objectives
Main objectives can be summarized as follows: History of the Spanish language in America, influence of substrate languages; phonetic, phonological and morphosyntactic differentiation.
Syllabus
  • History and formation of Latin American Spanish.
  • Analysis and commentaries on different theories of genesis of Latin American Spanish.
  • Dialect areas.
  • Phonetic and phonological differences.
  • Morphological and syntactical differences.
  • Lexical differences; lexical americanisms and their origin.
  • Perspectives of evolution of Latin American Spanish.
