Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss and assess selected issues of the social culture of women from the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century.
Syllabus
  • Outlining the content of the course – introduction lesson, sketching the development and changes in social position of women (period of the 19th – first half of the 20th century), single woman – married (unmarried) – widow, changes of social position during the life, woman in a family, bringing up the girls (children in family, marriage politics, understanding the sexuality and sexual restrictions, women domain – cultural context of childbirth, hygiene and hygiene routines of women, changes in time, special occupations – female healers, magicians
