Course objectives
The aim of the final written essay is to make students acquainted with the art historical description of an art work.
Syllabus
  • Description of an art work (recommend is the painting from the 15th – 20th centuries) from the foreign art museum (e.g. Kunsthistorischen Museum in Vienna), which the student knew from autopsy, not only from the reproduction, its basic processing (in particular iconography, informations of the author and basic characteristic of his oeuvre and its development in connection with the researched art work, and also the bibliography concerning the art work and its author).
  • The final essay has a character of knowledgeable compilation, which is written on the basis of the detailed study of the chosen art work and the informations of the existing literature.
