Course objectives
The aim of the course is to teach students, while exploring the topic of theater translation, analytical thinking, and to develop their ability of doing a bibliography research and criticaly evaluate given texts.
Syllabus
  • - translation theories with special regard to the translation for theatre
  • - typology of theater translations (e.g. source-target language translation, adaptation, libretto, dubbing etc.)
  • - analysis of the particular types of translated texts

Teaching methods
Lectures, class discussion, discussion with professionals, homework.
Assessment methods
Credit is given for active class participation and three satisfactory seminary theses accomplished in the course of semester.
The exam includes, in addition, a final seminary thesis on chosen topic.
