Course objectives
At the core of this course is reading excerpts from the selected writings of the 20th-century aesthetics. The main goal is to gain understanding of these seminal texts through interpretation and discussion. During the course, the students will generate their own subject annotation system to record personal reflections, arguments, factual observations. Course graduation requires a basic orientation in the analyzed texts, their comprehension, interpretation and paraphrasing.

Gadamer’s book The Relevance of the Beautiful. - Chapter “Answering the Question: What is the Postmodern?” from J. F. Lyotard’s work Toward the Postmodern. - Chapter from “The Aesthetic Understanding” by Roger Scruton.
