- Effective Public Speaking Course is a fast, easy-to-use electronic guide to public speaking that is intended for any student, teacher or academic and non-academic professional who wants to become acquainted with the basic principles of the art and science of public speaking in English language. This course contains twelve seminars consisting of an immense diversity of interactive activities where you will learn about creating and delivering effective talks. It presents some useful guidelines and generally accepted criteria on how to conduct an audience analysis, how to develop content and structure it for maximum impact, how to create and effectively use visual aids that support your ideas, how to handle tough questions and, of course, it suggests which critical mistakes and common traps to avoid. We hope that you will enjoy this course and discover that public speaking is considerably more exciting, enjoyable and encouraging experience that you thought beforehand.

- Course assessment: (4 credits): presentation (80 %) + 10 tests (10 %) + written activities(10 %). Exam: 1) delivery of a 6-8 minutes long structured academic presentation with audiovisual aids followed by a discussion; 2) or audiovisual recording of a 10 minutes long real presentation from your professional/academic background to:Effective Public Speaking Course, Libor Štěpánek,Centrum jazykového vzdělávání,Fakulta sociálních studií,Joštova 10,602 00 Brno); or a web link to such a recording. 2)revision tests in the semianrs no. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 a 11; 3) reacting to 75 % of open written activities in the discussion forum. Assessment: A 100 - 92 % B 91 - 84 % C 83 - 76 % D 75 - 68 % E 67 - 60 % F 59 % and less
