Course objectives
Our view on a history is strongly formed and predefined by the film. The target of this programm is an initiation and improvement of the critical thinking; the student shoud be able to analyze the manner in which the historical reality have been translated into literary works and films based on them. Also, the part of the analysis will be the orientation to the fine art and architecture as a coulisse for the literary and film stage. The course requires: 1. a mastery of the original text, its critical analysis and interpretation of the historical reality during the panel discussion; 2. an appreciation of how this text have served as the basis for a film and how the historical reality have been moved; 3. an evaluation of the concrete topic created by the text and film in an essay, it is hoped that each student will treat the material (texts and films) both as unique creations and interdependent elements. From the methodological point of view this programm will not be based on the film studies, but especially on the methods of the cultural history, historical anthropology or recently appreciated visual studies.
