Course objectives
The course introduces students to the reflexion of specific discourse expectations from photograph, as it is formulated by main representants of french philosophy, anthropology and history of art. At the end of the course, student will achieve basic orientation in the given problematics, terminology and way of argumentation of selected thinkers from the field of French visual studies.

Lecture 3 Photograph as punction from the visible. Marie-José Mondzainová. Lecture 4 Photograph as place of contact with the past. Georges Didi-Huberman. Lecture 5 Photograph as scientific fetish. Bruno Latour. Lecture 6 Photograph as false evidence. Jean Baudrillard. Paul Virilio. Lecture 7 Photograph as ritual object. Pierre Bourdieu. Michel Maffesoli.
Teaching methods
Cycle of lectures based on powerpoint presentations, which will be given to the students. Short discussion at the end of each lecture. Individual studying of the recomended literature.
Assessment methods
Terminological test. Its aim is to control student´s knowledge of basic concepts and conceptions, which are presented and explained during the course
