Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to: understand basic principles of traditional theatre forms of India, Japan and Chine; explain the principles of staging and especially acting techniques.
Syllabus
  • Traditional theatre (ance) forms of India: kutiyattam, kathakali, bharat natyam, kathak, Ramlila etc.
  • Traditional theatre forms of Japan: noh, kyogen, bunraku, kabuki
  • Traditional drama/theatre of China: Jīngjù (Peking opera) etc.
