Course objectives
The aim of the course: to demonstrate the complex of European literatures as part of European area in which it is necessary to observe the economic, political and cultural processes as one whole; literature itself is regarded as a starting point of the research of the whole European area. The kernel of the course is the conception of European civilization and culture and the interpretation of European literatures based on the knowledge of European area with the centre in the EU countries and with transcendences towards the geographical Europe (Russia) to to their American varieties. The methodological basis of the course is the conception of comparative literary studies in its area variety. At the end of the course, the student will get the knowledge about the facts and mutual relations of European literatures and their position in world literary activity and about the unsubstitutable role of literature as a source of a more profound analysis of European area.
