- Course objectives
- The concept of intercultural learning has experienced a huge spread over the last two decades. Trends of internationalisation and new migratory flows have promoted various approaches and methods for intercultural learning in research and practice. It is likely that situations of "cultural overlapping" remain permanent relevance and cultural learning will develop further as research-and action-relevant area . Simultaneously, in the context of intercultural learning, new activities and professions emerge in the education sector . The aim of the seminar is to provide theoretical and practical references for intercultural learning and to stimulate students' own reflections. For this purpose, the following topics will be covered:
- Syllabus
- Content - Theories and models of "culture" - Factors increasing cultural diversity - Cultural diversity as training relevant phenomenon - Multiculturalism vs. Interculturalism - Ethnocentrism - Methods of intercultural learning After having completed the seminar and all corresponding tasks, students should be able to... ...know and assess different approaches to "culture" ...understand and classify trends of cultural diversity ...know stimuli for education ...distinguish terms and to apply them correctly ...develop an understanding of their own cultural adherence and to reflect on it ...gain first experiences with intercultural learning methods
