Course objectives
At the end of this course, student should be able to extend managerial knowledge and skills of undergraduates in system thinking foundation; The student should be knowlidge base cybernetics and information theory; The student shoud be able works with particular business information systems and with possibility of their utilization in managerial work. Third – to warn undergraduates to respect information systems user’s requirements . There is awareness of work continuity with other users of information systems, awareness of enterprisewide as warranty of quality decision after partial aims.
Syllabus
  • 1 ) Introduction to Information Management Origin and evolution of IM as a discipline; Historical development of the concept of IM and its current understanding; Relationship of Information management to knowledge management; optimizing the costs of business ICT; Information Policy; Information strategy of the organization; business strategy; presumptions for a successful strategy for IM; accompanying signs of unclear business strategy; Information manager and its role in the organization. 2 ) Process, Process audit Process; business process; process management; development cycle of process-driven organization; process audit; process map; Data flow diagram; Business Process Reengineering (BPR ); Key Performance Indicators ( KPI); Narrow neck (bottle neck); Analytical techniques and graphs used during the audit. 3) Technical equipment of corporate infrastructure Hardware and software in the company; corporate network (the active elements of the corporate network, corporate network security, network protocols TCP/IP, architecture of corporate network); server and its applications in the enterprise network (Microsoft Solution - MS Server, Active Directory, MS Exchange, alternatives); tools for central administration of ICT systems for system and application management. 4) Audit HW and SW in the organization The subject of the audit, graphical tools and methods for representation of each element in the corporate network, examples of audit, their usability, optimization of software and hardware in the organization. 5) Introduction to Cloud computing and virtualization, processing and storage of data in the organization Advantages and disadvantages of cloud solutions, Cloud, SaaS, Paas, Haas, Data Storage, Data warehouse, OLAP, OLTP, consolidation of, consolidation of data storage and servers, virtualization, WINTEL, Hyper-V. 6) Information system and database Conceptual model, Elements of IS, IS Typology, classification of IS, database in information systems, database management system, database architecture, the basic principles of IS and related terminology. 7) The Business Information System The current structure of IS in business, information systems, BI, SCM, ERP, CRM, APS. Transaction Processing System and its components (CIS, RIS, GIS, CIM, CAD, CAM) history of ERP, requirements for basic functionality, types of ERP in the Czech Republic and abroad. 8) Audit of Information System Objectives of IS audit, documentation for IS audit, Information Resources about IS, IS security audit, examples of IS audit. 9) Licensing a software in an organization Possibilities of licensing a software in a business environment, licenses, software, Free Software Foundation, General Public Licence (GNU/GPL), EULA, OEM license, the licensing of server products, proprietary license, free license, Microsoft, Software Assurance, documentation of software. 10) Securing of corporate infrastructure security, a corporate network, passive attack, active attack, DoS (Denial of Service) attacks, DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service), network elements, firewall, proxy, authentication, authorization, controlling user access to the network and IS, domain certificates, smart card. 11) Data communication in the organization types of data communication standard EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and its properties, XML, EDI/XML, data security and data broadcasting, data box, electronic signatures (certificates).
