Course objectives
Programme of modern Czech theatre, personalities of Czech theatre direction, periods of impressionism, symbolism, expressionism, civilism, dada and surrealisma, analysis pivotal staging, dramatic production, metamorphoses of dramatic art, criticism.

  • 1. Organization, introduction. 2. Context and era, modern artistic trends and history of Czech theatre. 3. The beginning of movement "small scene" and their influence over modern theatre. Lucerna. Revolutionary scene. 4. Czech theatre avantgarde. Devětsil, poetism, constructivism. 5. Vladimír Gamza. 6.-8. Jiří Frejka. Liberated theatre.Dada and Modern studio. 9.-10. Jindřich Honzl. Voskovec and Werich. 11. E.F.Burian.Voiceband. 12.Burian´s D-Theatre. 13. Epilogue.
