Course objectives
The course introduces the students to the general topics and periods of the work of Milan Kundera. A special attention is paid to Milan Kundera's publicistic, prosaic, dramatic and essaistic works and their literary historical and also literary comparative aspects. On top of this the course focuses on theatre and film adaptations of Milan Kundera's work and also on the reactions the work has raised. When having finished the course the students will be able to understand the work of Milan Kundera a) from a literary historical point of view, b) in its main literary theoretical characteristics, c) in the broader cultural contexts and the work´s echo.
