- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to introduce students to fundamental topics and problems of Russian, Czech and Slovak theories of translation. According to accentuated practical focus of the field, studying of subject matter from lectures and reading of selections from chapters of compulsory literature during the semester are expected for successful passing of the course.

- 1. Introduction into literature of a given field
- 2. History of the Czech translation of literary texts
- 3. History of the Russian translation of literary texts
- 4. Modern methods of translation
- 5. Translation of literary texts from the point of view of genres
- 6. Translation of literary texts a historical discipline, questions of its criticism and functions in the national literature
- 7. Analysis of poetics of translation of literary texts as a way to the independent creative work
- 8. Choice of a literary text for translation and its interpretation
- 9. Questions of poetics of translation of literary texts. Choice and interpretation of a prosaic text and its translation.
- 10. Contemporary translationally orientated translatology and other up-to-date questions.
- 11. Poetics of translation of drama, and film or television scripts.
