Course objectives
The course will introduce lace-making in European space as a specific means of production as well as a social phenomenon associated with rural and elite society. Students will be acquainted with the creation of lace in hand-made form and with their use in rural and nobility clothing culture. The aim of the course is to prepare students for practice. After completing lectures, they will be able to apply the acquired knowledge about the history of the phenomenon and to include historical lace into the production circuit and time period.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: describe and explain the main trends of production centers; analyze the history of production lines; describe and analyze the development of lace communities; identify individual textile products according to technology and artistic expression; to apply knowledge in museum practice or in independent expert practice.
