Course objectives
The course will present the form, organizational structure, way of functioning and transformation of the institution of the Czech Catholic Charity in the period 1949–1989 in the context of the history of the Catholic Church (with emphasis on religious orders and congregations) against the background of the development of the centralization and anti-Church policy of the communist regime. Attention will be paid to the impact of the basic time milestones on the situation in Charity, the main figures associated with its activities during the period under review will be presented. The possibilities and approaches to studying this in the modern historiography somewhat neglected topic will be discussed.

  • 1. Duchovní kořeny a institucionální počátky charity;
  • 2. Československá katolická charita v období první republiky (vznik instituce, osobnosti, organizace, úkoly);
  • 3. Situace katolické církve v letech 1945–1949 (s akcentem na řeholní společenství);
  • 4. Akce K a zrušení ženských klášterů (role Charity při akci K, důsledky),
  • 5. Česká katolická charita (ČKCH) po roce 1950 (struktura organizace, prameny a specifika výzkumu),
  • 6. Výrobní složka ČKCH (charakteristika, proměny, specifika),
  • 7. Sociální složka ČKCH (charakteristika, proměny, specifika);
  • 8. Rok 1968/69 v ČKCH;
  • 9. Normalizace v ČKCH;
  • 10. Osobnosti ve vedení ČKCH;
  • 11. Sonda: Česká kongregace sester dominikánek;
  • 12. 80. léta (změny politicko-církevní situace, „restaurace“ katolické Charity po r. 1989)
