Course objectives
Cycle of lectures is dedicated to the processes topping the genesis of nation and statehood processes of particular Balkan nations at the beginning of 20th century (Balkan wars), which in the same moment result in final resolution of so called Eastern Issue, representing at the Balkans a key problem since the end of 18th century. Lecture is focused in details to both causes and consequences of the World War I within this region, even with any and all aspects of the Versailles Treaty system. It highlights all political, cultural, and economic development of particular Balkan states in the interwar period showing the causes, which resulted in dramatic events of civil wars as well as in bloodshed practically at the whole Balkan peninsula during the years of World War II. At the end it analyzes historical preconditions and facts leading to the victory of communists in practice of all Balkan countries. At the end of course the student should understand and explain the principle of complicated inter-ethnic relations at the Balkans, and be capable to interpret the events of the World War II at this territory objectively.

  • Yugoslav problems and the course toward disintegration of the state.
  • Albania problems "unwanted child" of the Balkan wars.
  • Greece during the dictatorship.
  •   The path to the war in the Balkans.
  • War map of the Balkans: Greater Albania and Great Bulgaria.
