Course objectives

Upon completion of this course, students have demonstrated their ability to appraise and evaluate theoretical approaches in their given field of study. They are able to compare and contrast various scholarly approaches. They have a profound knowledge of the discipline including the ability to implement the various skills relating to the specific field of study.

Syllabus

• Graduates of this degree program must demonstrate a high level of written and spoken forms of Serbian or Croatian and Macedonian or Bulgarian. They must also prove a deep knowledge of literature and culture of the Balkan peoples. Must also demonstrate a good knowledge of specific issues and the historical and ethnographic developments in the Balkans. They should also have a deep knowledge of medieval history, history of early modern era, 19 and 20 century, international relations and religious issues in the Balkans and be able to analyze historical, ethnographic and literary phenomena and processes in the Balkans.
